"If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it" - David Sobel, Beyond Ecophobia
As our societies and landscapes become increasingly urbanized, it is not hard to understand why many of us are now beginning to miss the simple way of living that is more entrenched in and connected to Nature.
To address this need, we have founded the Centre for Nature Literacy and Enterprise (CNLE) in partnership with the University Scholars Programme at NUS. From there, we create and run a wide range of bespoke Nature-based experiential learning programmes and Permaculture consultation efforts. The aim of such programmes and services is to immerse young and old alike in the wonders of the Natural Sciences. Intertwining the art of entrepreneurship, horticulture, organic farming, smart technologies and Permaculture design, our hope is to empower individuals to develop habits of thoughtful observation and critical problem-orientated thinking. For more information about our education efforts, visit us at CNLE.com.sg
Our team consists of experienced professionals from the fields of Education, Horticulture and Social-Entrepreneurship who have come together because of our shared passion for holistic education, a deep respect for Nature as our greatest teacher and the conviction that Nature is worth learning about.
An intrinsic part of our work is to help organizations and individuals transform unproductive urban spaces into meaningful farms that are both beautiful and productive. Learning from Nature, our urban farm designs are strongly guided by Permaculture ethics and principles. Combining Permaculture design with Natural Farming techniques, our farms not only become more abundant over time, they also require significantly less maintenance after maturity.
We strongly believe that the urban gardens of the future will allow people to co-create productive ecosystems with Mother Nature, and will grow to play a crucial role in nourishing people's minds, bodies and the very social fabric of urban life.
If you have a plot that is sitting idle and you would love to see it become a meaningful place for your family or community, we invite you to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about our edible landscaping service.
"It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt rather, to bring people back to... the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility... and of individuals working together as a community, to better their lives and their children's future" - Robert F. Kennedy
Fuelled by personal frustrated stories of trying to change the world alone, we cannot be any more convinced in the need to build authentic communities that spur us on in our endeavours to live more responsibly and sustainably.
Hence, in our own way, we have created Project 33 - a home based community project that explore all aspects of food, gardening and nutrition. Grounded in the spirit of "giving first", it is a platform for life-long learning, authentic relationships and community support. If you share our believe and purpose, come and join us for our quarterly fun and free activities by registering for Project 33 newsletter.
"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!" - Audrey Hepburn
